The Lord our protector

ATD 21The Word

“I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and He saved me from my enemies.” Psalm 18:1-3

Thought

“Bitter and dangerously cold” said the morning weatherman on the radio as I looked across the snow covered field. The temperature was in the lower single digits and overexposure to the elements without proper protection would have had quick and harsh effects on the human body. I, however, was huddled inside near the warmth of a wood stove and sheltered from the external conditions capable of harm.

There is a far greater danger to us, though, than the cruelest of weather elements. Each within humanity is in extreme danger when exposed without protection to the cold and heartless enemy of our soul. Without Christ, one’s spiritual future is desperately dark with nothing from the world to help.

In Christ, though, we are shielded from harm that would bring us an eternal death, He is our hiding place with unlimited ability and resources to provide us safety in the midst of treachery, danger, and deceit. He is not only our protector, He is our conquering King!

Prayer

Indeed my heart explodes with love for You this morning and I declare You are truly worthy of praise, for You have provided refuge from the one that would do me harm. You are my God, my rock, my fortress, my Savior. Amen.

“Morning by morning He wakens me and opens my understanding to His will.” Isaiah 50:4
