“May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 115:15
One winter’s morning while staying in a lakeside cottage in the Ozark Hills, I was again reminded of how vast and varied the Creator of heaven and earth truly is. On the first morning I woke to a temperature of minus five degrees, snow covered shorelines, and thin layers of ice scattered about the lake’s surface. I stared through the cottage window and watched as a slight breeze caused the smallest of sway to the top of a large cedar tree. Adjacent to the Cedar was a young Oak tree with one lone brown leaf still clinging to the branch it budded from earlier in the spring. The leaf swayed lightly back and forth in the breeze touching twigs on either side and imitating the clapper movement of a small bell.
Though a cold, cloud covered morning; the day was filled with serenity and beauty. While gazing I began to think about how in but a few weeks the view from the window which I peered would begin to yield an entirely different landscape as spring would introduce different color hues and a variety of wild life as it emerges from winter habitats.
The handiwork of God should amaze us and fill our hearts with awe and wonder, especially when we ponder the multi layers of life all about the earth. Indeed He is Maker of heaven and earth, the Creator of all that exists. From this God of wonder the Psalmist declares to us, “May you be blessed” And, may our response be, “Yes, let it be so.”
Praise to You Almighty God, Maker of heaven and earth. There is no other to seek to bring what is needed. No other to seek to be blessed. For no other beyond Yahweh knows what is best and will bring it to pass. Amen.
