“I take joy in doing Your will, my God…” Psalm 40:8
The Psalmist in the previous verses of this song has revealed God as having designed the earth, all that exists within and around it, and then blessing the children of God with plans too numerous to list.
With each unfolding breakthrough in technology to view further out into space, scientists declare new discoveries previously unknown. This trend will continue as long as technology advances, for the creations of God cannot be exhausted.
Consider this: if God’s plans escape our ability to catalog, then wouldn’t we be wise to embrace His and not ours? Not only do His fall within the realms of perfection, but He obtains unlimited resources to cause them to materialize in line with His flawless design.
For each of us, serving Him and His plans is the experience of privilege, purpose, and divine design. He offers opportunity to do things we could never accomplish on our own. Also contained in obeying and following His will is the assurance we are engaged in a pure and perfect strategy destined to succeed and bring God honor.
I can rest in Your design for my life, Lord, for it is right and it is good. Knowing what we are to do in this life and doing it will bring us internal joy. I take pleasure in doing Your will, my God. Lead me today through the steps of Your will. Amen.
