“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
When it comes to dealing with the challenges of Christianity’s common enemy, we are instructed by Scripture to not attempt to engage defensively or offensively in our natural abilities. Our worldly weapons prove worthless as we are waging war in and with the supernatural. The battle we are told belongs to the Lord and His methods for waging and winning war manifest differently than those strategies formed in the minds of men. In fact they often appear unrealistic and impractical. However if they are the methods of God, they will prove the ones effective.
There is a famous and often quoted military strategist who once wrote concerning the methodologies of Christ in waging effective warfare against the enemy. “I know men and I can tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison. Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for him.” Napoleon Bonaparte 1769-1871
Teach me Your ways Lord that I might see the obstacles in glorifying You destroyed. Amen.
