“You are my God, and I will praise you! You are my God, and I will exalt you! Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever.” Psalm 118:28, 29
God has made each of us to experience multiple emotions. There are days when I seem to have almost none, but from love, trust, and devotion keep marching forward because that is the order of the day. Placing by faith one foot in front of the other toward the destination God directed simply because He is to be obeyed.
Then there are other days when my emotional experience feels overwhelmingly full and positively charged. The feeling for instance reflected in Psalm 73:25, “Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth.” There is an awareness, sense and yearning that nothing else can define or provide comfort, contentment, or satisfy the heart other than His presence. The incredible beauty and wonder of the earth all pales and yields to the hunger for His presence.
All else leaves me wanting, my Lord and my King. Indeed You have captured my heart and exposed its desires for any earthly things as vanity besides knowing life with You. All the wealth, and all the fame would not satisfy my soul. No, only You and the hope of being in Your presence will bring peace to the longing I feel. You have made this redeemed one to discover all contentment, and the pinnacle of the human experience in You alone. You are my God and I praise and exalt You! Amen.
