“Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.” John 12:25, 26
What a wonderful and powerful promise, to be honored by God the Father! Now include the following passage into the mix. “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Eph3:20, 21) He goes far beyond our ability to imagine how He will honor us.
Let’s use one of His creations as an example: a leaf. In spring and summer most of us simply see and enjoy the beauty of the color green. Maybe some take time to probe deeper and appreciate the variety of shapes and sizes. Each leaf, though, contains about a dozen parts with different functions. “Leaves are the powerhouse of plants. In most plants, leaves are the major site of food production for the rest of plant. Structures within a leaf convert the energy in sunlight into chemical energy that the plant can use as food. Chlorophyll is the molecule in leaves that uses the energy in sunlight to turn water (H2O) and carbon dioxide gas (CO2) into sugar and oxygen gas (O2). This process is called photosynthesis. A leaf is made of many layers that are sandwiched between two layers of tough skin cells (called the epidermis). The epidermis also secretes a waxy substance called the cuticle. These layers protect the leaf from insects, bacteria, and other pests. Among the epidermal cells are pairs of sausage-shaped guard cells. Each pair of guard cells forms a pore (called stoma; the plural is stomata). Gases enter and exit the leaf through the stomata.” Incredible!
Do you think God desires to honor a person committed to loving and serving Him in a lot more detail and depth than a leaf? Let me answer that for you, YES!
Choose this day who you will serve and understand the redeemed child of God will be honored by God beyond what we can imagine. Let your heart cry this week be, give me Jesus!
