“Who can be compared with the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high?” Psalm 113:5
“Who is God like?” It was a brief, honest question from a young child expectant of a quick answer. The inquiry from young and innocent eyes, though, led to silence, quandary, and deep contemplation. When a response finally came, it was one fumbled and of great inadequacy.
Theologians have contributed volumes of literature over the ages endeavoring to disclose God’s person and characteristics. While we are grateful for their efforts of insight, they are at best minimal. Were it possible to place their attempts next to him for accuracy, they would be embarrassingly minute, immeasurable in comparison to his actual person.
The pinnacle of human thought in attempt to describe God, even but a glimpse, in earnest leads to silence and awe, for truly he is like no other.
Adequate words do not exist to describe you, Lord. you have created humanity for the purpose of glorifying you and so I lift my hands in honor of you. Best I can and best I understand, I worship you, Father God. Amen.
