“Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. Joyful are those who obey His laws and search for Him with all their hearts.” Psalm 119:1, 2
How many times have you heard these two sentences, “I just want to be happy” or “I deserve to be happy”? From the homeless and unemployed to the wealthy and famous, these phrases have often been spoken. Just Google “What will make us happy” or “The key to happiness” and the result is a plethora of thoughts, suggestions, and opinions, varying from the reasonable and rational to the ridiculous. Happiness, we are told, is the result of wealth, fame, authority, freedom, high self-esteem and low expectations. There is no shortage of offerings and books to buy on the subject. But wasn’t it self-focus that opened the door to deception which led to delusion and discontentment in the first place?
Joy originates in the heart of God and can be mined from there alone.
Who would foolishly resist the possibility of genuine joy? Apparently and sadly there are many, for many are those who have and still resist the offer of Christ’s great grace which is the real key for joy from its origin. Search for the Lord with all your heart, choose the Lord, choose to walk in integrity and obedience to Him, and discover joy.
God, it is you that seek today as my source for joy. I trust you as my life-source and from You comes glorious, inexpressible joy. Amen.
