The call

ATD 164The Word

“This was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Temple assistants from Jerusalem to ask John, ‘Who are you?’ He came right out and said, ‘I am not the Messiah.’ ‘Well then, who are you?’ they asked. ‘Are you Elijah?’ ‘No,’ he replied. ‘Are you the Prophet we are expecting?’ ‘No.’ ‘Then who are you? We need an answer for those who sent us. What do you have to say about yourself?’ John replied in the words of the prophet Isaiah: ‘I am a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Clear the way for the Lord’s coming!’” John 1:19-23

A Thought

Each of us as believers in Christ are given assignments. We were called from darkness into his marvelous light. With course corrections having occurred, we are now in pursuit of a new mission of his choice. The prayer Jesus prayed is now ours also, “Not my will, but Yours.”

For some this may mean a different job, career choice, or relocation geographically. For others it may mean remaining in the school, office, or factory you are already in, but with a new purpose.

The details can be a bit different for each of us and discovered through reading and studying the Bible, praying, and listening to wise counsel. Each of us have this in common, though, we are all “a voice” in the assignments God gives to each of us.

We must not be silent when it comes to the proclamations and declarations of God and his will! He has told us we must love him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. He has told us we must love our neighbor as ourselves. He has told us to go into every place with the message of his Kingdom, his Good News, and make disciples. Each voice is important, each voice is powerful, and in God’s hands each voice is fruitful.

I choose to be a voice today, Lord Jesus, for you to speak through as You lead and will! Amen.
