ATD 168The Word

“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62:5-8

When we are afraid and uncertain we are shown the place of rescue, encouragement and restoration. It is in the quiet place where all is relinquished before the Lord of all heaven and earth. This is the place where we realize hope. God alone is the safe fortress and hiding place, the harbor of shelter. Triumph is not found in the resources of men, but the unchanging faithfulness of God. Christ alone is sanctuary, the impenetrable citadel of refuge.

With sincerity the psalmists invites us to trust in God at all times. When confidence and boldness wane, when tentativeness and intimidation attempt to slyly slink into the soul, find the quiet place before God and “pour out your heart to Him,” for our God, our Father in heaven, keeper and lover of our souls is our willing and only true refuge.

O Lord my God, my rock, and my redeemer, my heart begins to again ascend to the place of peace and confidence as I wait in stillness drinking in the truth and hope which overflows throughout your most life giving and abundant Word. Praise and honor to the Lord of Lords and King of all kings. Amen.
