“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:31, 32
I have met and ministered to many people over the past four decades oppressed with anger. It is easily recognized, perhaps because I was also once its prisoner. Being forgiven and, in turn, forgiving strips away the power of anger and leaves it with no effect in our lives.
Where the love and grace of Christ has filled the heart and soul, there is no longer room for bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander. It cannot be underscored or emphasized enough: forgiveness in and through Christ is the soul’s door to freedom.
Cause me, Lord, by the power of your Holy Spirit to be found extending with sincerity, tenderheartedness, kindness, and forgiveness. Amen.
