Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12
I arrived late one evening to a small cottage located on a wooded hillside. I walked in, set my backpack down and immediately started a fire in an old wood stove. Once the flames were steady I decided to step out the back door for a glance. It was a cloudy night and even though I knew there was a beautiful valley to behold, I could see nothing. In fact I couldn’t see more than about 10 feet into the woods. The next morning however the sunlight revealed one of the Ozark’s beautiful valleys.
Light causes things unseen to become visible. The light of dawn that morning exposed a portion of a lovely Southern Missouri landscape and I went for a long walk. I would have never attempted the walk the night before because nothing was visible.
Jesus revealed he was the light for the world.
In you we have light. In you we have life. Thank you, Lord Jesus, light of the world. Amen.
