Alive with Christ

ATD 199The Word

”You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.” Colossians 2:13-15

“He forgave all our sins” I have been in many conversations with people over the years who just found difficulty in believing God could forgive them of all their sins. They indicated, surely God expected them to do some sort of work to begin to inch into his good grace, but nothing is further from the truth. Our part is simply to repent, say we’re sorry, ask forgiveness and forgiveness is granted. Too simple some would say, but the Father knew there was only one way to rescue people to himself, grace! His only Son Jesus, the unblemished sacrificial lamb was the offering for our sins.

We cannot work our way into his good favor and grace, it’s all his work of redemption. Our part is to surrender and allow the potter to begin forming us into the image of Jesus. This is our certain hope! Death no longer rules in the place Christ abides. All the charges levied against us by the evil one are dropped, cut away in the power of the cross of Christ.

Now we stand as vessels of honor for our Lord and King. Purposed for the Father’s good and perfect will!

I rejoice in this day as I remember your deliverance of my imprisonment through the power of your resurrection life. I am forgiven and freed to be yours alone. Amen.
