“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37
In that the template for the Awaken the Dawn daily devotionals is the Lord’s Prayer, the theme of forgiveness occurs weekly in one form or another. Perhaps Jesus included it knowing we would be repeatedly challenged during our daily walk through our lives in this world, knowing we would need to be reminded to walk in forgiveness.
He again underscores the importance of treating others as we desire to be treated and the life-giving principle of forgiveness. Jesus forgave every sin, every offense, regardless of the depth of its darkness. When we sincerely asked forgiveness and repented of our transgressions, Jesus forgave us…period.
We can do no less if we are to be like Jesus Christ. We are to extend forgiveness to those who offend us. Just as our salvation came not of our own works and deeds, but by the grace of Christ, so the grace to forgive others must draw from the same source.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your grace to forgive me, when in my sin I was not worthy to be forgiven. I pray for your grace to forgive those who offend. Amen.
