“…God made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom.” Jeremiah 10:12
This morning I am writing from the porch of a river house overlooking of a bend in the Ottauquechee river in central Vermont. The water is gently rushing through a shallow area covered with rocks creating very peaceful sound. A quarter of a mile away is a tree covered hill and this morning the sun is shining through an otherwise overcast sky emphasizing the various color hues of green in the areas abundant foliage.
This moment speaks of God’s unmistakable display of creative brilliance, beauty, and power to materialize to that which once was but an image in his mind. This is one, small portion of God’s created earth, yet it radiates his handiwork, character, his divine signature and provides a sample of what covers the earth beyond. Who but God has the ability to make something so beautiful and maintain it for his pleasure and purpose? The answer, of course, is no one.
You alone are the God of all creation and your name is holy. Amen.
