“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
An early summer morning and I was leaving a café as a friend was arriving. We stood at the door talking a moment when I suddenly realized I was blocking the door for someone else attempting to enter. I quickly moved aside and said, “I am so sorry.” Their reply, “No problem, have a great day!”
How wonderful it would be if all levels of over stepping boundaries, both minor of major, were similarly effortless in the asking, extending, and receiving of forgiveness? If we continue to search the depths of the above passage and, by God’s grace and power, apply the wisdom of its content, the result will be God honoring and life-giving.
The power of your love and forgiveness are often highly underestimated or ignored. My character and actions during this earth life are to be as yours Lord Jesus. Keep before me the qualities of your love and by your Spirit applying them in my daily walk. Amen.
