“If only you would listen to his voice today!” Psalm 95:7
In the darkness and lightly falling rain of a cool fall Ozark morning, I heard the unmistakable honking sound of a small flock of geese as they neared and then passed closely overhead. Over the years, spending a lot of time in the outdoors, I’ve learned to identify many birds by the sound of their call or voice. Anyone one can learn, the only requirement is the willingness to set the time aside to watch and listen.
The Lord has unmistakable and easily identifiable characteristics to his voice also. Many experience and express difficultly in hearing God’s leading in life. I have struggled with this in the past and still do at times. When I do, I usually discover it’s not time to take the next step, or I’ve not taken the time to listen to him.
He is not withholding the sound of his voice. He speaks to those willing to listen. He is heard as we invest time in reading the Bible, praying, and listening with a heart of openness and willingness. He is heard by those who listen. Are you listening?
You have not silenced your voice God. You have never ceased to let your intentions be known. Your voice guides and leads if our desire is to hear and follow. Amen.
