“They will be my people, and I will be their God. And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever,” Jeremiah 32:38, 39
Mankind was made by God for the purpose of glorifying him, honoring him in worship. The ultimate treasure mined from human history, is not the power struggle for national or global dominance, not the struggle for a ruling definitive philosophy, not the breakthroughs and advances in technology for the betterment, or perceived betterment, of mankind, and the planet on which they dwell. Nor, is the story of highest quality and substance, the stunning or catastrophic wonders and acts of nature.
The story of stories is of God’s pursuit to create, redeem, and facilitate the continued gathering of a people, who will worship him now, and through all eternity. The greatest of stories, the purest of truths, the holiest of motivations, is of God’s quest to possess a people enveloped in his love for them, and their loving devotion to him, in uninterrupted worship forever.
Father in heaven, Father of life, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, your name is holy, your name is sacred, your name is eternally praised. Amen.
“Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.”
