I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! (Psalm 116:1, 2)
I have always been fascinated by this passage and the mental image it creates. How fascinating to know when we pray, he actually hears us! He loves and cares so much for us he bends down to listen to what we have to say.
The God of all creation, in need nothing, actually desires and cares so much for us, he’ll bend down to hear us. Why does God bend down, he has no hearing difficulties. He bends down to let those of childlike faith know he cares, is involved in our concerns, and is deeply committed to the relationship he has with us.
Merciful and loving heavenly Father there is no rest or peace apart from your great and wonderful presence, and so it is you I seek and to you I pray as long as I have breath. Amen.
