But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ. (Galatians 3:22)
Today is Independence Day in the United States. Today the nation celebrates its freedom from tyranny and oppression. I have no idea as to the number of battles and wars fought throughout history with the root cause to obtain freedom. I only know they are numerous with new ones unfolding as people continue the quest for freedom from the prisons of oppression. Genuine liberty is one of humanities passionate cries.
The ultimate war for freedom is the struggle for the human soul. Darkness relentlessly pursues the destructive course to keep individuals enslaved, but God designed a flawless plan beyond evil’s reach to free the human heart from the cruelest bondage. God has declared independence for any and all who would believe and receive the liberating grace provided by Jesus Christ, the only Son of God.
In sin we’re imprisoned, but in Christ we soar. Receive Christ, receive freedom!
Lord, I am grateful to live in a nation of many liberties, but I am most grateful for the freedom of my soul made possible by the grace and forgiveness Jesus, the greatest liberator. Amen.
“forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.”
