The highest goal

The Word

Let love be your highest goal! (1 Corinthians 14:1)

We plan, plot, toil, and strive to accomplish those things we define as worthwhile. We endeavor to be diligent, disciplined, and persevere, all good and noble qualities. Awards and accolades adorn walls, shelves, and display cases in homes, public institutions, and museums throughout the world, but what are the truly greatest and highest possible goals and lifetime achievements?

They are to love God with all our heart and to love our neighbors as ourselves; to conquer the perceived unconquerable, with the love of God; to see the things unchangeable transformed from hurting, dark, and dull, to vibrant and hopeful through the love of God; and to see aimlessness moved to purposefulness and destiny because of the love of God.

No wonder the strong exhortation and encouragement is to make our highest goal love, the essence of which is only found in and from its purest and most powerful source, Jehovah God.

May I walk in your love, Lord, and bring honor to you. Amen.

“May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”
