Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 124:4)
During a heavy rain one morning my vehicle suddenly hydroplaned on the highway and quickly spun around to face a large rapidly approaching semi-truck. Fortunately, my vehicle continued to spin out of the truck’s path and over a steep embankment.
A lady passing by pulled over and asked if I was okay. I replied and thanked her for her concern. Then a gentleman in a pickup truck stopped, jumped out, and said, “I have what you need to get you out!” He grabbed a cable from his truck, hooked it onto my vehicle and quickly pulled me to the level roadside. I thanked him; he waved, jumped back into his truck and sped off.
While I was grateful to the lady for her concern, the gentleman in the truck had everything I needed to eliminate the challenge and problem I was facing.
Our helper and deliverer is not a concerned passerby without provision to assist. He is the maker of heaven and earth, and able to deliver us from our challenges, battles, and problems. Our help comes from the Lord!
Lord Jesus, you are my helper, Savior, and deliverer from the evil one. With a grateful heart, I worship, praise, and glorify your name. Amen.
“but rescue us from the evil one.”
