Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. (Mark 1:41)
The presence and extension of compassion is to flow from the life of every believer in Christ. It is the will of God for us because, through Christ and the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, it is the heart of God within us.
Jesus was moved by compassion and acted when he saw the need to extend it. He exemplified for us the importance of its quality, cause, and the results it produces. The quality of genuine compassion is others-oriented and reflects selflessness. The cause is to alleviate and, by God’s grace and provision, eliminate, pain, suffering, rejection, and hopelessness. The result is to instill hope and the glory of God and his kingdom.
Cause my eyes and heart to be moved by your compassion as I move about this day. When I see the need and can offer aid, may I follow your example, your leading, and reach out to those before me. Amen.
“May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”
