All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. (Acts 2:42)
Placed within the heart of everyone is the need and desire for community. The Trinity, God in three persons as: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, live in community. Yes, mysteriously unexplainable, but nevertheless, humanity is created in God’s image, and one of his characteristics and provisions, is living in the highest possible degree of community.
The church, the body of Christ, is God’s community design and directive for those belonging to him. In community we position ourselves for the success of Christ’s mandates, which are to grow in our love for him and to move forward into all the world and make disciples, Christ followers. Spiritual health, wholeness, and fulfillment are provided for us in this divinely fashioned community.
The practices and elements of this community include devotion, commitment, and consecration to:
- The life principles and teachings of God’s Word.
- Deep Christ centered communion among its members in the sharing of meals together, and the Lord’s Supper, which celebrates, commemorates, and acknowledges all of the spiritual accomplishments of Jesus.
- And, for all to actively participate in the multifaceted components and types of prayer.
Thank you for providing genuine community for my spiritual welfare and the ongoing success of your mission and call. May I wisely participate in this holy organism, not forsaking its gatherings and giving thanks for its benefits. Amen.
