So the people of Israel ate manna for forty years until they arrived at the land where they would settle. They ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan. (Exodus 16:35)
God provided miraculously for the nation of Israel as they traveled forty years through a wilderness region. There were no long periods of stopping to settle and establish plots of land, plow fields, plant seed, and harvest crops. No visits to cities or towns abundant with various lodging comforts, eating establishments, or relief agencies. There were no food assistance caravans from other nations. Forty years of wandering from one desolate location to another. What or who was their source and sustenance? The Ancient of Days, Yahweh. Not once did he not provide for them.
He is still the promise keeper; the provisionary for those who willingly follow him on the journey he chooses. He still supernaturally produces provision, when the natural is lien or barren. He is still, and will always be, Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our Provider.
Thank you Lord for daily bread. Amen.
