Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress… (James 1:27)
One of the evidences of genuine Christianity and living the kingdom life is to care for the orphans and widows. In caring for them, we express our desire and commitment to love and serve God as he expects, and reflect the character of his heart and his kingdom.
Caring for the orphans and widows clearly is one of the Scriptural duties and privileges of every believer in Christ. In doing so, we demonstrate Christianity in a pure and genuine form. In God’s view, caring for the orphans and widows mirrors the compassion of his heart, with the nobility of his Kingdom. This is one of the ways we prove ourselves worthy members of God’s kingdom.
The church is often confronted to produce evidence of authentic Christianity. This is one of the evidences, for pure and genuine religion is found in the care of orphans and widows in their distress. Were the global Christian community to take up this mandate seriously, how different the landscape would appear.
May I see with your eyes Lord, hear with your ears, and feel with your heart. Amen.
“Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
