The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. (Psalm 24:17)
Today, well over seven billion people live on the planet in approximately 16,300 unique people groups, disbursed in almost 200 countries, speaking 6,500 languages, and they all belong to the Lord. The earth on which they live, each place their feet trod, the seed planted in soil, the food harvested and consumed for nourishment, each stream and river, it is all the Lord’s possession. From highest mountain to deepest sea, every living creature abiding on and within them, are owned by God and purposed for his good pleasure.
Humanity thinks itself superior, profound in lofty ideals, placing high value on its abilities, rewarding its accomplishments, boasting dominance, and demanding accolades for great feats. Advanced and noble as they may seem, they are barely negligible in light of the divine proprietor, and each accomplishment they tout, is an idea conceived in the Creator’s mind, borrowed from his creative canvas.
The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. Nothing existing is independently formed, no human is self-made, self-existent, or self-sustained. God is the Maker, God is the owner, and God’s glory the purpose.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord, for he is God and he is glorious. Amen.
“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
