But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness. (2 Peter 3:13)
God’s kingdom is forever! He has been moving us toward climactic, final earth, episodes to usher in the new heavens and earth, since the beginning of his redemptive plan. Some question and debate the plausibility of such an extravagant and spectacular event, and some deny it will ever occur.
However, for those whose hope is in all things Godward, bliss could never rightly frame the internal excitement of the future time arrival of the new heavens and earth. Coming for them is the experience of seeing, hearing, and feeling the tangible and the mystical concurrently.
Curiosity and speculations abound as to what the experience will be like in God’s realm of limitlessness. Earth’s current physical laws and principles, will open into God’s infinite and unlimited places. More flavors, more tones, more color, and certainly more than three dimensions in which to exist.
None of this though, is the core excitement and heart expectation for the believer in Christ. Instead it is the promise of his eternal presence, to realize worship in perfection in his future kingdom, to be in the world, the realms, where his righteousness fills every place, everywhere.
You have established the times for each thing you have planned. I look forward to the time when your righteousness and your presence fill the new heavens and the new earth. Amen.
“May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”
