Jesus responded, ‘You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.’ ‘What is truth?’ Pilate asked. (John 18:37, 38)
Truth, genuine truth, is sought globally by scores of people. Truth is pursued so we might know and understand what is genuine about something or someone. The truth is a treasure, and a rare find these days. When it is sighted, its behavior is often tentative and evasive. We cull and assess, political statements and declarations, sift through court testimonies, and analyze numerous agendas tied to money and power. Why? To know the truth! Truth, genuine truth, is what we hope to find, but its counterfeit too often is what is uncovered.
But, take heart seekers and lovers of truth! There is a pure vein, there is an untainted source of truth. He is the very cradle of all things right and wholesome, of all things graced in perfect goodness. There is rest and peace in his words, for nothing but truth is spoken from his lips, as it flows from his holy heart.
What is truth? Christ! He is truth, he is the life, and he is the way.
Lord Jesus, I know you speak the truth, the very words of life. Lead me in your truth every day of my life. Amen.
