Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5, 6)
With the Christmas season closing and a new year approaching, our thoughts transition. Before us is a new calendar year and an unfolding future. There are new commitments to make, possibilities to explore, goals to attain, and resolutions to uphold.
In all these, the character of God and his kingdom should be our plumb line when considering the future. The character and values of God’s kingdom are very different from those of the world. The kingdom of God is one opposite of the world’s values and principles.
For instance, the world encourages us to gather treasure for ourselves for our security and stability. God however encourages us to invest in his kingdom, and to give ourselves away for the good of others, for therein lies genuine security. The world says get even, but God says, forgive. The world says only trust in what you see, touch, and understand, but God says trust only in Him. The world says do what you want and what will make you happy, God says search out His will in all you do and He will direct your course through life. In the end, his will contains real treasure and real joy.
Lord, I pray as the future unfolds I will wisely seek your heart in all matters and trust you in the direction of steps I am to take. Your path for me is the perfect path. Amen.
“May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”
