Created for worship

The Word

“Next the devil took Him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed Him the kingdoms of the world and all their glory. ‘I will give it all to you,” he said,’ if you will kneel down and worship me.’ ‘Get out of here, Satan,’ Jesus told him. ‘For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only Him.'” Matt 4:8-10

Thought

Near the conclusion of his forty day desert experience, Jesus revealed the divine design for all humanity, “You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.”

This sentence followed an offer from the evil one to lure Jesus from the will of God, to a different path, but Jesus would have no part of it. With a quick reply the Son of God responded and brought purpose and privilege to all of humanity. He included no theological defense for God’s existence, superiority, and ruler over all things, only the clear purpose and justification for humanity’s existence. There is no higher call, duty, or honor in the human experience than the worship of God.

In a culture laden with materialism and self-gratification the thought of all humanity existing for the purpose of worshiping God may not seem logical or appealing, but multitudes over generations testify otherwise. Genuine and eternal life is experienced through Jesus Christ, and in worship and service to God the Father.

Prayer

You alone are Jehovah God, the Father of all life, and worthy of worship. I praise your name, there is no other one like you, Lord. You are exalted above all things and all things exist for your glory. Amen.

‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.”
