No Deeper Love

The Word

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Blaise Pascal was born in Clermont-Ferrand , France in June 1623. He was blessed with a remarkable mind. He was an inventor, mathematician, physicist, and theological writer. His mother died while he was a toddler, and he was raised by his father until his father was seriously injured in an accident which limited his abilities to care for his family. The accident created a shift in the family’s religious beliefs. After the father’s accident, a visit from a group of Jansenists led the family to convert to Christ, and Pascal Blaise became a devoutly religious person.[1]

Though most noted and remembered for his contributions to mathematics, one quote from his writings lends insight to the inexplicable depth of God’s love for humanity which led Jesus Christ to the most extravagant act of sacrifice, selflessness, and provision for the human soul. “Love has reasons which reason cannot understand.”

I do not understand the depth of your love and certainly I am undeserving of it. I can only be a humble and grateful recipient of this unfathomable provision. Thank you, Lord, for loving me and saving me, and may I wisely seek the paths of your kingdom and will this day and each of the remaining days of my life. Amen.
