The Perfect Guide

The Word

I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. Psalm 16:7, 8

Thought

“A harrowing account of one group of Algerian hostages’ desperate flight for freedom credited an unusual gadget for helping to save their lives. Liviu Floria, a Romanian gas worker, fled the scene of the hostage crisis at the Tiguentourine plant last week, following two days of hiding from the terrorists on the plant grounds, The New York Times reports. Floria said he and seven others climbed a fence and escaped into the desert, navigating for 20 miles across unfamiliar terrain using only a distant light and the compass application on Floria’s smartphone. Fortunately, the iPhone app worked without a cellular signal. They walked over barren terrain of sand and rocks and small hills, from about 2 a.m. until the late afternoon with only short breaks.”[i]

God has promised to lead, instruct, and care for those who have given themselves to follow him, for those who long to fulfill the desires of his heart. His are not promises offered only on good days, but sure promises during difficult circumstance. The Lord is always with us in every area of our daily lives.

Prayer

I bless your name Father God for you are genuinely true north. You guide me flawlessly if I will allow you to do so. You are the God of my destiny, lead me this day by the power of your truth, on your path alone, and in your perfect way. Amen.
