For everything comes from him; everything exists by his power and is intended for his glory. To him be glory forever. Amen. (Romans 11:36)
The old Westminster Catechism says “Man’s chief end is to glorify God (1 Cor 10:31, Rom 11:36) and enjoy him forever.” (Psalm 73:25-28) These are ancient words bursting with truth.
We find our beginning in God and our continued sustenance for all things in God. He is our provision for all things. He has given to us freely so we might use his provision to facilitate the declaration of his glory and will, through whatever form or path of his choosing.
We were created for his glory, to worship and honor him. The priority of our lives is to exalt him, to tell the world who he is and what he has done. Life originates from him and is sustained by him. All glory, acclaim, and recognition is to be directed to him forever. He is the amazing One, the awesome One, the holy One, the only true God!
Lord, reset my heart today for your purposes, for I know all things exist by your power and for your glory. You are the one who has given me life and you have done so that I might be liberated from darkness to declare your name and purposes. You have made me and sustain me. Use me to honor you as I walk through this day. Amen.
“Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.”
