What mighty praise, O God, belongs to you in Zion. We will fulfill our vows to you, for you answer our prayers. All of us must come to you. Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all. What joy for those you choose to bring near, those who live in your holy courts. What festivities await us inside your holy Temple. (Psalm 65:1-4)
A man once told me he could not measure up spiritually to other Christian men he had met. His life was simply too ridden with dysfunction, his situation too complex to repair, and his transgressions beyond forgiveness. Without disclosing identities, I shared the stories of others around him in the church he attended who once thought the same as he, but who were now experiencing the freedom of forgiveness.
The enemy would have us think we’re too much of mess for God to forgive us. God’s love, grace, and salvation is for all who say yes to the redeeming sacrifice of the Father’s only Son, Jesus Christ, with no exceptions.
God’s forgiveness is the gateway to genuine freedom, inexpressible joy, and is offered equally to all. God shows no favoritism. Release from the power of sin and death give reason for all who believe to celebrate the love, mercy, power, and glory of God.
Apart from you Lord we have no hope of forgiveness, we are locked away in a place which only you can liberate us from. You are the only way and all must come to you for salvation. There is no sin you cannot forgive, and wait to forgive. In that place of your forgiveness is great joy and celebration for all time. Amen.
“And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.” Matthew 6:12
