Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Rescue me from my enemies, Lord; I run to you to hide me. (Psalm 143:8)
Great Christian men and women of the past stressed the importance of searching the Lord in Scripture and prayer first thing in the early morning. The Bible affirms the morning hours as the best and first choice for searching fresh input from the Lord.
David spoke of the value of seeking God in the mornings, and this was also Christ’s pattern seen in the gospels. He is the one we are to shadow.
Seeking him at the beginning of the day, allows him to set the tone for the day. I receive his encouragement, first thing in the morning! I am reminded of his unfailing love, his care and his protection from the enemy.
Your great gift of grace delivered me from a fate of darkness. You are my Savior and Lord. I trust you to guide me through this day, and deliver me from the plans of the evil one who would cause me to fail. Show me where to walk for I give myself to you, and for you. Amen.
