The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like total darkness. They have no idea what they are stumbling over. (Proverbs 4:18)
One night my son came into our room and woke me with great concern in his voice, “There is a fire in the woods on the hillside!” I quickly dressed, stepped outside and was met by the smell of smoke, the crackling of a large fire, and a bright orange glow on the top of the hill about 300 yards from our home.
We ran though the woods in the dark toward the fire’s glow, but along the way we hit brush and briers until we arrived at our neighbor’s home, which was ablaze. Eventually the local volunteer fire department arrived and extinguished the flames.
The emergency trip up the wooded hillside can be compared to life without the guidance of the Lord. There are dangers and obstacles hidden and strategically placed by the enemy for demise and to keep us from the life-giving will of the Father.
The wise embrace, submit, and follow the will of the Lord and their way is bright as the noon day.
My righteousness is through you alone, Savior, and my heart is grateful for your provision of light. You give me hope and guide the steps of my path as i follow your will. Amen.
“May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”
