So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, ‘I have made you the father of many nations.’ This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing. (Romans 4:16, 17)
Only God can create something new from nothing! The proof of the free gift of God to us was the sending of his only Son, Jesus Christ, to set us free from the sentence of death. Believing by faith in Christ and his redemptive work is our key to eternal life with the Father. This is the promise of promises, the gift of gifts, and the miracle of miracles!
Because of the Father’s love for us and desire to be in lasting relationship with us, he did what no one else could do, he made something of us when we were nothing. This is God’s nature and character, to make something from nothing. He made the world and all it contains when there was not the least bit of substance to do so. He made hope when nothing but hopelessness existed. He takes worthless people and gives them destiny, divine purpose, and genuine life!
Be humble in this day. Be grateful in this day. Stand on the great promises God has given for this day for he took our “nothing” lives and created us as beautiful in his sight through Christ.
Awaken in me this morning the everlasting joy that has come to me from knowing your great miracle has taken a worthless thing and made it a vessel of beauty in your eyes. You created in me a new heart, a new life! Amen.
