Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty – the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come. (Rev 4:8)
You are worthy, O Lord to receive glory and honor and power. For you created everything, and it is for your pleasure that they exist and were created. (Rev 4:11)
The most excellent way to begin the day is to acknowledge and honor the one who was here before us, made us for his purposes, and who will be here when we leave this earth. His goal in creating us and all things created was and is for his good pleasure alone and for everything to revolve around him and his desires, not us and what we desire. He is the highest, the purest, the noblest. His character is flawless and all he does is justified. The Holy One alone is worthy of our worship.
There is a Psalm apropos for this moment as we contemplate the worship and honor of the Ancient of Days, “Be silent, and know that I am God!” (Ps 46:10)
Lord, though there are many things I could pray today, I choose instead to be still in honor and worship of you. For truly you alone are God. You alone are holy, and you alone are worthy of all glory!
“Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. “
