Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. And he said, ‘Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ You are witnesses of all these things. ‘And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.’ (Luke 24:45-48)
The words “You are forgiven” are powerful and liberating. Genuine and sincere forgiveness releases the heart from oppressive captivity. When the Author of salvation made it known we are forgiven, and we repent and receive his forgiveness, the heart is released with emotions beyond measure as we enter the life God intended for us.
This powerful experience remains relevant, alive, and ready to be applied to any open heart. The Good News is always available for hearing ears, and the power of forgiveness ready to free the imprisoned in soul.
A redeemed and grateful heart bows before you, Lord. Fill me with your Spirit to declare your forgiveness to the world’s captives. Amen.
“forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.”
